Tasmania is Australia’s southernmost state — a pristine island sanctuary far removed from the bustle of the mainland east coast. With over 40% of its land protected as World Heritage areas and national parks, Tasmania is a destination unlike any other. Rugged mountain ranges, dramatic coastlines, ancient wilderness and rich convict history combine to create one of the most extraordinary travel destinations on earth.
Our Tasmania private tours are designed to show you the very best this remarkable island has to offer, guided by experienced, passionate and friendly local guides who bring every destination to life. Explore Hobart’s beautifully preserved Victorian-era European architecture on our Hobart city tour, then ascend Mount Wellington to take in sweeping panoramic views over the city and the glittering Derwent River. Visit the world-famous Wineglass Bay — consistently ranked among the top ten beaches in the world — and stand in awe of its surreal turquoise waters and untouched wilderness. Step back in time on our Port Arthur private tour to uncover the haunting history of Australia’s most significant convict settlement, and marvel at the breathtaking natural formations of Devils Kitchen, Tasman Arch, the Blow Hole and Tessellated Pavement.
From the very first moment of planning, our Tasmania private tours take care of every detail, recommending only the most magnificent and memorable attractions the island has to offer. Unlike crowded big bus tours, our guides love to interact, share stories and tailor each itinerary to exactly what you want to see and do — all at your own comfortable pace. Whether you are travelling with toddlers, grandparents, or everyone in between, we are committed to crafting a truly sensational Tasmanian holiday that every member of your group will treasure.
For groups of 1–7 passengers, we can arrange an 8-seater Kia Carnival or Mercedes-Benz vehicle. For groups of 8–11 passengers, we can arrange a 12-seater Toyota Hiace or Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The vehicle will be selected based on your group size, luggage requirements and itinerary. For larger groups, we can arrange larger vehicles upon request.
Yes. Our Tasmania private tours are fully customisable. You can let us know the places you would like to visit, and we can help arrange the route, sightseeing stops and daily schedule based on your travel dates and preferences. We can also suggest suitable attractions if you are not sure how to plan your itinerary.
Most of our Tasmania private tours are arranged from Hobart, especially itineraries covering southern and eastern Tasmania such as Hobart, Bruny Island, Port Arthur and Wineglass Bay.
If you are arriving in or staying in Launceston, we can also arrange tours from Launceston, including destinations such as Cradle Mountain and other attractions in northern Tasmania. For a multi-day trip, we can customise the route depending on your arrival and departure locations.
Yes. We can arrange a one-way Tasmania itinerary from Launceston to Hobart, or the reverse, as part of a customised multi-day private tour. This can be a convenient option if your flights arrive in one city and depart from the other, allowing you to explore more of Tasmania without having to return to your starting point.
Yes. We can arrange hotel pickup and drop-off for private tours, depending on your itinerary and accommodation location. For tours departing from Hobart, we can generally pick you up from your Hobart accommodation, while Launceston-based tours can be arranged around your Launceston hotel.
Yes. We can arrange private airport transfers to and from Hobart Airport around your tour schedule. For Launceston, airport drop-off can also be arranged as part of certain private tour itineraries. Please provide your flight details and accommodation information so we can recommend a suitable arrangement.
Cradle Mountain can be included in a Tasmania multi-day itinerary from Hobart, but it involves a longer driving distance. For a more comfortable itinerary, we generally recommend incorporating Cradle Mountain as part of a multi-day route between Hobart and Launceston, rather than visiting it as a return day trip from Hobart.
Yes. We can help arrange an additional Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) experience during your Tasmania stay. The Southern Lights can occur throughout the year, while May to September generally offers better opportunities due to the longer hours of darkness. We can monitor aurora activity and weather conditions during your stay and help arrange an aurora-chasing experience when conditions are promising.
However, aurora sightings cannot be guaranteed, as they depend on solar activity, cloud cover and other weather conditions.
Yes. The itineraries shown on our website are examples of popular Tasmania routes, but your private tour does not have to follow them exactly. If you have specific places you would like to visit, simply let us know your travel dates, number of passengers, accommodation location and preferred destinations, and we can help create a customised itinerary for you.
Yes. Tasmania does receive snow during the winter months, particularly in higher-altitude areas such as Mount Wellington (kunanyi) near Hobart, Cradle Mountain and the Central Highlands. Snow is generally more likely from around June to September, although conditions vary from year to year and snowfall is not guaranteed.
Mount Wellington is one of the most convenient places to try to see snow when staying in Hobart, as it is located close to the city. If seeing snow is important to you, we can recommend suitable destinations based on the weather and road conditions during your visit.
Tasmania has a cool, temperate climate, with temperatures varying between regions. In Hobart, average daytime temperatures range from around 13°C in June and July to 23°C in January, while Launceston ranges from around 13°C in winter to 25–26°C in summer.
Weather can change quickly, particularly in mountainous areas such as Cradle Mountain, so we recommend bringing layers and a waterproof jacket when travelling around Tasmania.
Yes. We can arrange private shore excursions for cruise passengers visiting Tasmania, including cruise visits to Hobart and Port Arthur. The itinerary can be planned around your ship’s arrival and departure times, allowing you to visit the attractions that interest you while making sure there is sufficient time to return to the port. Port Arthur also welcomes cruise passengers arriving by tender, with shore excursion options available around the historic site and surrounding region.
Yes. We can arrange pickup from or drop-off at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport when it is part of a multi-day private tour itinerary, such as a customised itinerary that includes Launceston, Hobart or other destinations in Tasmania.
However, we do not generally offer one-way pickup or drop-off transfers as a standalone service, as most of our guides and vehicles are based in Hobart. If you are travelling to Tasmania on the Spirit of Tasmania and would like to include Devonport in a multi-day private tour, please let us know your travel dates and itinerary, and we can check the arrangements for you.
